Drawing from a pool of some of London's very finest jazz musicians, bandleaders Tony Hawkins (trumpet) and Simon Lasky (piano) formed Jazz Sounds in 1999. These working musicians regularly ply their trade in some of London's top jazz venues, including Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho, and the 606 Club. They pride themselves on their reliablility, versatility and professionalism.

Tony Hawkins BA Hons (trumpet/flugel horn) has been playing professionally for a number of years. His musical career began when he won the regional finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1989. After four years at music college (where he won the Mixed Ensembles Competition and Brass Competition twice), in 1995 he left to sail the seas, playing aboard several prestigious cruise ships, in show bands and small-group jazz ensembles. This experience stood him in good stead, and he now performs with many of the country's leading jazz musicians. Tony has remained active within the London jazz scene, and recently assumed Band Leading duties for a regular engagement at the Waldorf Hotel, performing for their renowned 'Jazz Brunch'. When not performing with Jazz Sounds, Tony devotes his time performing with professional 8-piece soul band, 'The Soul Detectives'.
